Bloody Angola: A Prison Podcast by Woody Overton and Jim Chapman released the final episode of season 2 on Thursday with the harrowing story of the guard dogs of Angola.
Focusing not only on the amazing program Louisiana State Penitentiary has in generalized terms as it relates to the largest maximum security prison in America, the host also dove deep into the wolf-Dogs which are a cross breed between a wolf and a domesticated dog(primarily German Shepard).
Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola has quite a history with the kennel program and training they offer. In addition to the guard dogs, Angola also has a training program consisting of PTSD Dogs and Narcotics Dogs and the prison has won numerous awards for training throughout the national prison system.
The wolf dog program was originally started in 1992 by then Warden Burl Cain as an answer to massive budget cuts to Angola ordered by the State of Louisiana.
