In our episode released Thursday December 21st, 2023, we wrapped up our fifth season!
The episode can be listened to completely free by clicking here.
We share the success of our recent episode on the Black Code and discuss some breaking news stories.
One of those stories is about troubled teens being transferred from New Orleans to Bloody Angola, the notorious prison in Louisiana. We clarify that these teens were there for serious offenses like rape and murder, not minor crimes. However, these teens have been recently been moved out of Angola due to what courts have described as intolerable conditions (not our words). They have been relocated to a new facility in Jackson Parish and will eventually be transferred to the Swanson Center for Youth at Monroe.
Woody then shares a personal story, revealing that they used to be a supervisor at one of these juvenile prisons. He speaks about their experience as a detective, arresting young people for serious crimes, and their hope that these teens can turn their lives around.
Jim discusses the relocation of incarcerated women to Angola State Penitentiary to make room for underage girls at the women's prison. Jim highlights the challenges of housing underage offenders with adults and the importance of protecting minors from the sexual abuse and how Louisiana prison system is making preparations to house adult offenders at the Jetson location.
In addition to these updates, we recap the episodes that encompassed season 5 including discussing notorious criminal Charlie Frazier, an interview with Duck, and mention the positive feedback received from listeners and cover episodes on the serial killer Daniel Blank. We talk about an episode Jim did solo on serial killers who killed again and three short stories about Angola and of course the Lakehouse murder case.
As the episode wraps up, we mention the re-release of our top episode of 2023 with a NEW TWIST!
